Basquiat Book
|
For our Basquiat books, we aimed to capture Basquiat's art style in our own paintings and writings. We created our own slogans and Icons and used his style to reimagine famous pictures and logos. We recreated one of his pieces, and used his writings to draw inspiration and structure for our own pieces of literature. The inside cover (second page) of my book gives a brief description of who Basquiat was and what his art style was like.

Writing
The following is a collection of my writings taken from my surrealism book. Some of these writing have been copied into another format for a better viewing experience.
What Is Surrealism? For this piece, we had to define surrealism in our own words in a brief paragraph.

Echo Poem: For this assignment, we looked at a poem and mirrored it with our own original words to create a new poem..
My Surreal Story: For this assignment, we crafted our own surreal stories. A surreal story consists of a setting that seems normal but incorporates many dreamlike features.
Poem Analysis: I analyzed a poem called "The Shape of Your Eyes" by Paul Eluard. An analysis consists of "assertions", which act like a thesis, and is followed by "examples" to support these assertions. These examples are explained in what is called "explanations", and these explanations are followed by the "significance" of these examples to the assertion.
Dada Poem: A Dada poem is a poem created from random words that mean nothing. For my poem, I selected a random group of words and ordered them in a meaningful way.
